Body Purification Therapy:
Body purification therapy in Ayurveda, often referred to as "Panchakarma," is a holistic approach to detoxifying and rejuvenating the body. Panchakarma, which translates to "five actions" or "five treatments," is a cornerstone of Ayurvedic medicine and involves a series of therapeutic procedures designed to cleanse the body of toxins, restore balance, and promote overall health and well-being.
Vamana (Therapeutic Vomiting)
- This procedure involves inducing controlled vomiting to clear excess mucus and toxins from the upper respiratory and digestive tracts.
Virechana (Purgation):
- This involves the use of herbal laxatives to cleanse the intestines and eliminate excess bile and other toxins from the digestive system.
Basti (Enema Therapy):
- This therapy uses medicated oils or herbal solutions administered via the rectum to cleanse and balance the colon. It is particularly effective for balancing Vatadosha and removing toxins from the lower gastrointestinal tract.
Nasya (Nasal Administration):
- Herbal oils or powders are administered through the nostrils to cleanse and rejuvenate the nasal passages, sinuses, and head region.
Raktamokshana (Blood Letting):
- Though less commonly practiced today, this therapy involves the removal of small quantities of blood to detoxify and balance the body's doshas.
